Finding My Stride in Instructional Technologies

When I first entered into the Instructional Technology program at Sul Ross University, one of the first tasks was to create blog and begin to write about topics that were provided to us in each class. At first, I thought that it would be an easy task and should not take that long. However, I soon discovered it was going to require more time and effort that I originally planned. As I progressed through the early classes and became more comfortable with my research and writing, blogging about something I was truly interested in become something I looked forward to each week.

For the first blog assignment for the semester, we were tasked to create a short blog about the process of creating a blog site and then provide an inspirational quote. I have a few that I like to refer back to quite often, and the first one I will use is from the Ted Lasso series on Apple TV. In, my opinion, one of the best scenes of the series, Ted told a story of his childhood and how people would judge him and underestimate him; however, no one ever asked questions to learn...no one was ever curious. So that quote that I resonate with is - "Be curious, Not Judgmental". I believe that being curious about things allows us to move forward and learn about those around us and provide a better understanding of our world.

I know that the assignment was to provide a single quote, but there is another that I have shared for years through all phases of my life and probably something my children may be tired of hearing - "Do or Do Not, There is no Try" - Master Yoda from Star Wars. This is become part of my mantra, especially as I wanted to go back to school for another degree. I believe it was important for me to actually move forward on something that I wanted to do for years and actually show my kids that if you want to do something, you just have to do it. To wrap up the blog for the week, I would like to say that blogging each week has made me a bit more creative and diligent in my writing and look forward to them each week.
